food for thought :)

Hello readers :) just somethings going on cooking wise: tried an oatmeal pumpkin bread, it was definitely a hit with Peanut, my gluttonous sennie.

Also dinner for the flock looked rather yummy tonight, so i thought i would share. :)

Volkmann Fancy Soak and Simmer Directions:

1 cup soak and simmer, soak on a countertop for 4 hours, rinse, add more water(well above the mix), cook on the stove top for 45 minutes. Drain, allow to cool(or add frozen veggies for an instant cool).

Volkmann soak and simmer is a great blend of rice, legumes, and split peas. Its got a little bit of everything my guys love!

Tonight after cooking i added frozen peas to cool our mix, then some fresh carrot, celery(just for fun, not a highly nutritious veggie because of its water content, just for them to crunch on.) and cucumber. Also put a grape per bird on top for dessert.

One cup of this mix and all these diced veggies makes for alot of food for just 3 birds, but it works out great for my busy schedule. This dinner refrigerates well, and will last me up to 3 days.

Thanks for reading. Until next time,
Enjoy, and happy cooking! :)

Dinner--looking tasty :P

happy fall season time :)

since we are in Phoenix and have had a never ending heat wave since september, it is still rather warm during the day, but gosh darn it, it's fall, OK?! :)
